Texans Acquire RB Montgomery

The Houston Texans have traded for Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery, sending a 2026 fourth-round pick, 2027 seventh-round pick and offensive lineman Juice Scruggs to Detroit.

Montgomery, 28, will become the Texans' new lead rusher alongside Woody Marks. The former Iowa State standout has averaged over 740 rushing yards per season with the Lions, scoring 10 touchdowns in three seasons there.

Texans Wire gave the trade a B+ grade, noting Montgomery fits well with the team's zone-based offense and excels in goal line situations. He scored six red zone touchdowns last season, addressing a key weakness in Houston's offense.
