Wales have ruled out 25‑year‑old fly‑half Sam Costelow from the Six Nations trip to face Ireland on Friday night after suffering an ankle injury in the second half of the 26‑23 loss to Scotland. The Scarlets number 10, who was retained in the squad last week, is not fit to travel to Dublin but may still be available for the tournament finale against Italy on 14 March in Cardiff.
Costelow will be replaced by either Jarrod Evans or Dan Edwards, who was dropped after starting the previous seven matches. Wales head coach Steve Tandy will also need to replace injured flanker Taine Plumtree and has added prop Keiron Assiratti and flanker Ryan Woodman to the squad.
