Coalition Rejects Censure of Hanson Over Muslim Comments

The coalition has voted against censuring One Nation leader Paul Hanson for her controversial comments about Muslim Australians.

Two Liberal senators crossed the floor to support Labor's motion that sought to censure Hanson for "inflammatory and divisive comments" that vilified Muslim Australians. The motion accused Hanson of making remarks that sought to divide the community along religious lines.

The coalition's decision not to support the censure motion came despite criticism of Hanson's statements, which she made regarding the presence of Muslim Australians in the country.
