Islanders Extend OT Streak With Win Over Blue Jackets

The New York Islanders extended their remarkable overtime winning streak to eight games with a 4-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Islanders trailed 2-0 early in the second period before mounting a comeback, with Ilya Sorokin making crucial saves to keep them in the game. Simon Holmstrom scored the overtime winner, carrying down the right wing and going around the net to beat Blue Jackets goalie Jet Greaves.

The victory gives the Islanders four straight wins coming out of the Olympic break and keeps them ahead of Metro Division rivals like Columbus. Anders Lee scored in consecutive games for the first time this season, reaching the 901-game milestone in the process.
