Cowboys Tag George Pickens With Non-Exclusive Franchise Tag

The Dallas Cowboys have placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on wide receiver George Pickens, preventing him from reaching unrestricted free agency.

Pickens will count approximately $28 million against the 2026 salary cap. The non-exclusive tag allows other teams to negotiate with him, though the Cowboys retain the right to match any offers.

The 2025 season was a breakout year for Pickens, who led the team with 1,429 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Teammates Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb have pushed for a long-term extension, though the front office has struggled with such deals in the past.
