Dodgers’ Kike Hernandez Announces Birth of Son

Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Kike Hernandez revealed that he and his partner have welcomed a baby boy into the world.

The news comes from Instagram, where he posted that Santiago Jose was born on February 25th, marking his second child and first boy.

“02.25.26; the day Penélope became a big sister! #SantiagoJosé #LosAmoConTó,” Hernandez wrote in his caption for Instagram.

Hernandez announced the pregnancy along with his wife, Mariana Vicente Hernandez, back in August, just before the postseason.

“KIKITO coming soon!,” the utility player wrote on Instagram.

Hernandez will have plenty of time to spend with the family and his newborn, as his recovery from elbow surgery is still underway.

Over the offseason, he went through the procedure after playing through the injury during the postseason. He missed time during the regular season but returned for the season finale, postponing the surgery until the offseason.

Kike Hernandez is not with the Dodgers

While he recovers, Hernandez is with his Puerto Rico teammates for the World Baseball Classic. He can’t play for obvious reasons, but that is not stopping him from taking part.

“My people of Puerto Rico; with pain in my soul I have to let you know that I will not be able to fulfill my dream of playing the clasico in my land! Yesterday Friday November 14th, I had to repair my elbow extension muscle as I suffered a tear in Mayo, and continuing to play with the urge to repeat as World Series Champion caused it to break the bone,” Hernandez wrote.

“Rehab won’t allow me to be ready in time to put on my uniform with Puerto Rico on my chest. I hope they understand. I LOVE THEM!”

His recovery is still seemingly going well, and he is reportedly aiming for May 24th as the return date.

He signed a one-year deal over the offseason and is on the 60-day IL, but as soon as his stint expires, Hernandez wants to be back on the field, making his debut as a father of two.
