Fresh Faces on the Forty: Freshman OL Kaden Scherer

Another day, another Georgetown High School product and late recruiting flip leading “Fresh Faces on the Forty”. Kaden Scherer, the former Stanford commit, comes into Austin as a three-star IOL prospect that brings an elite frame to the table. At 6’5.5”, 285lbs, he is a fantastic “lump of clay” for Kyle Flood and company to work with. 2026 will be purely a developmental year for Scherer but he could fly up the depth chart faster than some expect.

The Texas OL room is looking for competition in the spring more than anything. Goosby is unlikely to play much, if at all, during spring practice. Laurence Seymore and Nicholas Robertson don’t join the room until summer, so Scherer will be given reps. It’ll be a great chance to learn from Brandon Baker, Connor Robertson and Dylan Sikorski while getting on the field consistently in practice.

Scherer is unlikely to see the field in 2026 but is an interesting prospect moving forward for Kyle Flood. Charlie Jilek is another prospect that fits that description. We will cover the 6’5”, 230lbs TE tomorrow and why he could be a Spencer Shannon clone.
