The Oklahoma Sooners won their second in a row and moved to 15-14 and 5-11 in SEC play with an 83-67 win over the LSU Tigers on Saturday. The Sooners are trying to play their way back into the NCAA tournament, and every win matters. After beating Auburn earlier in the week, the Sooners have created some momentum with back-to-back wins.
Guard Nigel Pack led the way for Oklahoma with 21 points on 8 of 14 shooting and 5 of 11 from three. Pack scored 11 of his 21 points in the second half. Xzayvier Brown had 20 points as well to lead the Sooners past LSU. Mohamed Wague had 10 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. Dayton Forsythe led the Sooners' bench with 13 points on 3 of 7 shooting and was 6 of 6 from the free-throw line.
The Sooners led for 36:51 of game time and took over the game in the final 12 minutes, working their lead to 19 points with just under eight minutes left in the game.
Oklahoma held LSU to 35% shooting from the field and 26% from three. The Sooners had a plus-two edge in turnovers, were plus-four in points in the paint, and plus-three in fast break points.
It was a strong performance for Oklahoma against an LSU team that is now 15-14 on the season and 3-13 in SEC play.
Oklahoma will have a chance to finish the season strong when they take on Missouri at the Lloyd Noble Center on March 3. The Sooners will close the regular season south of the Red River against the Texas Longhorns in Austin.
