South Bay Lakers recap: Bronny James, G League Lakers defeat Clippers

After three straight games on the road, the South Bay Lakers returned home to face the San Diego Clippers at UCLA Health Training Center on Wednesday. Even though they lost guard Kobe Bufkin, who has been arguably their best player this season, to the big-league Lakers, they were still able to get the job done against San Diego.

South Bay was down 65-55 early in the third quarter, but it outscored San Diego 38-32 in the third period, and it dominated the fourth quarter, 35-22, to come away with a 128-116 victory. It shot 60% overall from the field and made 15 of its 36 3-point attempts, and it had eight more rebounds and 16 more points in the paint than its opponent on Wednesday.

Reserve guard Tevian Jones led the Lakers in scoring with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting, while big man Drew Timme turned in 20 points, six rebounds, three assists and one block. R.J. Davis had 18 points, five rebounds and five assists in 23 minutes.

Bronny James made an appearance for South Bay off the bench, and in 29 minutes, he produced 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting, three rebounds, six assists and two blocks. Just one night earlier, he had 12 points, three rebounds and six assists for the big-league Lakers versus the San Antonio Spurs.
