Report: Colts give Anthony Richardson permission to seek a trade

The Indianapolis Colts have reportedly given quarterback Anthony Richardson permission to seek a trade, according to ESPN.

With the Colts' sights set on signing Daniel Jones to a multi-year deal, this news doesn't come as a surprise.

Richardson's future with the Colts has been quite uncertain since last summer.

Once Daniel Jones assumed the starting role and had success, Richardson's path back to being the long-term option for the Colts became quite muddied.

In addition to the Colts working to re-sign Jones, Riley Leonard showcased that he could be a capable backup quarterback option for the Colts in his Week 18 start against a very stingy Houston defense.

That only gives the Colts more of an incentive to move on from Richardson.

At this point, with the first and second spots at the quarterback position seemingly set for the Colts, moving on and getting some sort of compensation in return for Richardson may be the prudent move for Indianapolis.
