Steelers GM Omar Khan makes feelings clear on RB Kenneth Gainwell

Pittsburgh Steelers running back and 2025 team MVP Kenneth Gainwell is set to become a free agent in March, but not if general manager Omar Khan has anything to say about it.

At the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, Khan made his feelings on Gainwell known to reporters — he wants him back in the Steel City next season.

“Kenny was great to have around," Khan told reporters. "And he knows we want him back and we’ve been in communication with his people."

Gainwell made the most of his opportunities behind Jaylen Warren in 2025, recording his first 1,000-yard season thanks to receiving abilities out of the backfield.

Although Khan will do everything possible to keep Gainwell in Pittsburgh, some have speculated the talented Steelers running back could head elsewhere in free agency, such as these potential fits.
