Former Cowboys LB to interview for first coordinator job with NFC rival

A former Cowboys draft pick could be getting his first shot at an NFL coordinator position.

Kyle Wilber, who played linebacker in Dallas for six seasons and has since served on staff as a special teams assistant in both Green Bay and New Orleans, will reportedly interview with the Packers for their special teams coordinator opening, a role left vacant when Rich Bisaccia elected to step down earlier this week.

Following Bisaccia has become something of a habit for the Wake Forest product.

Wilber, now 36, was a fourth-round selection by the Cowboys in 2012. The following year, Bisaccia joined the staff in Dallas as assistant head coach and special teams coordinator, and Wilber became a staple of Bissacia's ST units on the field. Over six seasons with the Cowboys, Wilber tallied 120 tackles in 89 game appearances.

In 2018, Bisaccia signed with the Raiders. Wilber joined him in free agency; both remained for four seasons, with Wilber playing the vast majority of his snaps on special teams. He added another 33 tackles over 46 total games with the silver and black.

Bisaccia was named Green Bay's special teams coordinator in 2022, Wilber's first year out of the league. But the two were reunited by 2023 when Bisaccia hired Wilber to the Packers staff as a special teams quality control coach.

After two seasons under Bisaccia's wing, Wilber struck out on his own. He took an assistant ST coach's role in New Orleans in 2025 under new head coach Kellen Moore, previously the Cowboys backup quarterback over Wilber's final three years in Dallas.

Wilber is seen as an up-and-comer in the special teams coaching ranks, having seen his own play there punch his ticket to a 10-year career on the field.

"I've got to play big on special teams," Wilber said early in his Dallas tenure. "I want to be on this team, so I've got to play special teams. The more you can do, the more you can do."

He went on to be named a special teams captain in his very first year with the Raiders. And after just three years in the coaching realm, Wilber served as a special teams coordinator at this year's Senior Bowl.

Now he's getting at least a shot at the next rung on the ladder.
