Australian reporter apologizes for Olympic broadcast mishap

Australian sports presenter Danika Mason has apologized after drinking alcohol before a Channel Nine live Winter Olympics broadcast where she slurred her words.

During the broadcast, Mason slurred her words and went off-topic, discussing iguanas when the segment was meant to focus on coffee. Studio host Karl Stefanovic attempted to cover for Mason, suggesting cold weather might have affected her speech.

Mason took full responsibility for the incident, stating 'I want to take full responsibility, it's not the standard I set myself.' She also mentioned that not eating before the broadcast contributed to the situation. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed support for Mason, saying 'I'm pro Danika. Good on her' and attributing the issue to time difference and fatigue.
