Blue Jays' Santander to Miss 5-6 Months After Shoulder Surgery

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander will miss 5-6 months after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum in his left shoulder, an injury that returned in January when he resumed hitting.

Santander revealed Wednesday that his shoulder pain returned in January when he started hitting again, despite taking time off to rest. An MRI revealed the torn labrum, with the injury being made public on the first day of spring training.

The 31-year-old missed most of last season rehabbing the same shoulder, appearing in just 54 regular-season games and five more in the post-season. He is in the second year of a five-year, $92.5-million contract with the Blue Jays.
