Zundell Makes WV History with Sub-Four Mile

Syracuse sophomore Drew Zundell became only the third runner from West Virginia to record a sub-four-minute mile, crossing the finish in 3:59.04 at a Boston meet.

Former University High School state champion Drew Zundell continues to write his name in the record books as the third West Virginia native to ever achieve the sub-four-minute mile feat. The Syracuse Orange athlete accomplished this milestone at a collegiate meet in Boston, MA.

Zundell, who had previously run 4:03 earlier in the season, noted the significance of being part of WV's running history. "Records get broken, and it really just becomes a matter of time before you're gone," he said. "But running sub-four makes me part of the list, and no matter who else comes or who does it next, I will always be on it."
