Carlos Alcaraz made his return to competitive tennis with a strong performance at the Doha Open. Just two weeks after completing the career Grand Slam at the Australian Open, the world No. 1 defeated Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech 6-4, 7-6(5) in 1 hour 47 minutes. The young Spaniard had enjoyed a brief break, spending time with family in Murcia, attending the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix, and fishing in the Persian Gulf before resuming his winning ways.
In other Spanish tennis news, Jaume Munar will be sidelined for at least a month and a half due to a right arm injury. The 28-year-old, who reached the quarterfinals in Rotterdam last week, will miss tournaments in Doha, Dubai, Indian Wells, and Miami. Currently ranked 37th in the world, Munar aims to recover quickly for the clay court season beginning in April.
