Cain Velasquez Granted Early Prison Release

Former UFC champion Cain Velasquez has been released on parole after 11 months in prison for an attempted murder case.

Cain Velasquez, who once fought in the UFC and made brief appearances in WWE and AAA, was released from prison early after pleading no contest to charges that included attempted murder. He spent 11 months behind bars following a February 2022 shooting incident in which he fired at a man who had previously abused his son, but struck the wrong target.

Velasquez was initially sentenced to five years but was credited for 1,283 days served, including house arrest after posting bail. He is now on parole and pursuing a civil case against the alleged abuser. The former champion’s release comes after a career that saw him defeat Brock Lesnar in WWE and compete in AAA.
