Former Steelers DB Mike Wagner Dies at 76

Mike Wagner, a former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back and key member of the Steel Curtain dynasty, died at 76.

Mike Wagner, who played 10 seasons with the Steelers and recorded 36 interceptions, died at 76. He was a starter on the team’s four Super Bowl‑winning squads in the 1970s and made game‑sealing interceptions in Super Bowls IX and X.

The franchise released a statement saying Wagner was a “tremendous player” and “integral part of some of the most successful teams in Pittsburgh history.” Steelers owner Art Rooney II praised his toughness, consistency, and team‑first mentality.
