Milan keeping close tabs on Goretzka (Sempre Milan)
AC Milan is keeping a close eye on Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka. The Italian power looks like it might have big plans for Goretzka:
AC Milan have not given up on the idea of signing Leon Goretzka, and are keeping contacts alive to see if they can pull off the coup. Goretzka’s fate was sealed last month when Christoph Freund – a director at Bayern Munich – did a press conference held together with coach Vincent Kompany, in which he confirmed that Goretzka will bid farewell to the German club.
Goretzka, who is much maligned among Bayern Munich fans, appears to have some excellent clubs looking at him for the summer.
It remains to be seen, though, just how much his inactivity will affect the interest in him for the summer transfer window.
Falk says Diomande will cost too much for Bayern (Rousing the Kop)
Bayern Munich has been linked to Yan Diomande, but the cost for the winger might be too much for Bayern Munich. Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United could all be in a better position to get the highly-rated youngster:
Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said: “So it’s true that he [Diomande] will cost a lot of money.
“The €100m price-tag target was made by Oliver Mintzlaff. We saw him at Bayern Munich playing in the cup for Leipzig and he’s good. He’s really good, but he has to develop. €100m will be too much for this summer.
“It’s a price Premier League clubs can play, City, Liverpool and United. I think they can afford him, but Bayern can’t afford him at this point because Luis Diaz is the man on the left wing. Bayern Munich don’t need a 1A, they need a 1B, and €100m for a 1B is too much for Bayern Munich.”
If Bayern Munich did not have Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, Serge Gnabry, and Lennart Karl as its top four wingers for next season, the Bavarians might be more inclined to splurge on Diomande. Right now, there is just no need for a massive investment even with Diomande’s big potential.
No new offer for Neuer…yet (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)
Bayern Munich has not offered Manuel Neuer a contract for next season just yet:
❌ It is NOT TRUE: Bayern have offered Manuel Neuer a contract extension until 2027. They will talk – negotiations are scheduled for around March/April, when the national team is playing. His birthday is on March 27, when he’ll turn 40. I was talking with Manuel at the time of Bayern’s cup clash with Leipzig, and it was very interesting, as the president of Bayern, Herbert Hainer, said he’d love Neuer to be at the World Cup with Germany because he believes he’s still the nation’s best goalkeeper. I asked Manuel about this, and he offered a very firm “no” on the prospect of returning to the German national team.
Perhaps he might change his mind if Julian Nagelsmann directly asks him. But he’s now said “no” and he apparently won’t change his mind. At this point, I couldn’t help but wonder, “Why now?” Perhaps he’s thinking of retiring in the summer – we’re not sure on that point. Maybe he just wants a break from football in the summer ahead of the next club campaign. But at the moment, I have a small but growing feeling that he could quit come the summer.
This all comes down to what Neuer wants and like Falk says, it is starting to feel like this could be his final season.
United wants €30 million for Rashford (ESPN)
If FC Barcelona or any other club wants Marcus Rashford, Manchester United reportedly wants €30 million for him:
Manchester United will not accept anything under Barcelona’s €30 million option to make Marcus Rashford’s loan move permanent, reports Diario Sport. Barça want to negotiate a new deal to keep the forward after his loan deal expires, yet United already feel that the current valuation is more than reasonable. The 28-year-old has impressed at the Camp Nou but will have to return to Old Trafford if Barça do not complete a move.
Bayern Alumni: Marseille to let Pavard walk (Transfer Expert)
It looks as if former Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard is on the outs at Olympique Marseille:
Olympique De Marseille are not satisfied with Benjamin #Pavard’s performances and so #OM are not planning to trigger the option to buy (€15M) to sign him on a permanent deal from #Inter, which will work to find a solution for the French defender, who is not in Chivu’s Plans.
Price is set for Chiesa to leave LFC (Caught Offside via ESPN)
If any clubs want to pry Federico Chiesa away from Liverpool, the Reds have a price in mind:
Liverpool’s board are prepared to let winger Federico Chiesa leave for around £35 million, with Italian Serie A clubs keen to bring him back to Serie A.
