The Virginia Tech Hokies (17-8, 6-6) are back in Blacksburg for Saturday’s ACC clash against the Florida State Seminoles (11-13, 4-7). Saturday’s game will be the first for the Hokies against the new FSU coach, Luke Loucks. The legendary Leonard Hamilton retired after last season, and Loucks, a former Florida State guard who played for Hamilton, took over.

Tech is coming off its biggest win of the year, a 76-66 road win at No. 20 Clemson. The Hokies shot the ball over 50% from the floor and were red-hot from beyond the arc. The win undoubtedly helps Virginia Tech’s NCAA Tournament hopes, but it can ill-afford to lose to the ‘Noles.

The Seminoles led No. 15 Virginia most of the game this week, but allowed the Cavaliers to come back late to snap FSU’s three-game winning streak. Florida State’s most impressive win this season came against Miami, but its best performance came in a 91-87 loss to Duke. FSU is led by 6-foot-4 senior guard Robert McCray, who averages 14.6 points and 6.1 assists per game.

The Hokies could catch a break against the Seminoles, who only shoot 31% from beyond the arc.

Sophomore guard Tyler Johnson will miss another game for Virginia Tech. He’s close to returning, but it sounds like we will have to wait a few more days. Amani Hansberry leads five Hokies in double figures, averaging 14.9 points and 8 rebounds per game.
