Michael Duffy scored a late penalty to rescue a point for Derry City as they twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with newly-promoted Dundalk in the Premier Division at the Brandywell.
The Candystripes fell behind on 21 minutes as Eoin Kenny, son of St Patrick's Athletic and former Republic of Ireland manager Stephen, fired Dundalk ahead.
The young midfielder capitalised on a poor Derry clearance as he shifted the ball onto his left foot and curled beyond Shea Callister from outside the box.
Tiernan Lynch's side got back on level terms three minutes after the restart as the McClean brothers combined.
Former Republic of Ireland international James swung in a corner from the left which Patrick, unmarked, headed home at the back post to equalise.
JR Wilson then made a goal line clearance to deny Carl Winchester before Dundalk regained the lead on 65 minutes.
Substitute Gbemi Arubi latched onto a quick throw in and drilled a low shot across Callister and into the far corner.
Derry were then awarded a spot kick in the 96th minute as Declan Toland deemed that substitute Henry Rylah had been pulled back inside the box.
Captain Duffy stepped up and kept his cool to send Conor Kearns the wrong way and steal a late point for the hosts.
