American skater gives emotional tribute to parents at 2026 Winter Olympics

The 2026 Winter Olympics have presented many amazing storylines thus far, and American skater Maxim Naumov added to that Friday during his final skate at the Milan-Cortina event.

Naumov has become a Team USA favorite in recent years, but especially after tragedy struck his family in 2025. Nearly a year ago, the American’s parents were killed in a devastating plane crash.

On Friday, Maxim Naumov skated for the final time at the 2026 Winter Olympics and delivered a touching tribute to his parents when he came off the ice.

Naumov left a simple message for his family on the Jumbotron; “Mom and Dad, this is for you.”

The Connecticut native competed at his first Winter Olympics in 2026, however, despite failing to medal Naumov has certainly won over the hearts of American supporters.

This comes at a time where Team USA hockey has decided to honor former NHL star Johnny Gaudreau. The former Calgary Flames player tragically lost his life alongside his brother during a car crash in August 2024.
