Nebraska women's basketball (16-9, 5-9) trekked up north for a Thursday night Big Ten showdown with Minnesota (19-6, 10-4). The Huskers dropped their fourth-straight game, despite a valiant comeback attempt, falling to the Golden Gophers 84-67.
Nebraska fell behind by double digits in the first, allowing Minnesota to go up 26-13 heading into the second. The Golden Gophers built their lead up to 21 multiple times in the second before heading into the locker room up 49-30. The Huskers managed to condense the deficit to eight by the end of the third and then to six in the fourth. But Minnesota shut the door in the final four minutes, outscoring Nebraska 13-2 to get the win.
The Golden Gophers finished 31-of-59 on the night, while the Huskers shot 24-of-58. Nebraska outshot Minnesota from beyond the arc, hitting 9-of-26 against 4-of-14. But the Huskers allowed 21 fouls, leading to 18 made free throws by the Golden Gophers.
Britt Prince scored a team-high 15 points in the loss, shooting 6-of-10 from the floor, and hauled in a team-leading seven rebounds. Jessica Petrie tallied 14 points on the night, eight coming in the third to help get Nebraska within single digits. She shot 5-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Amiah Hargrove also delivered in the third, scoring seven. She finished with 13 points after shooting 6-of-12 from the floor. Hargrove also secured six rebounds. Logan Nissley scored 12 points for Nebraska, landing 4-of-10 in total shooting and 2-of-7 from three-point range.
Nebraska returns home for its next matchup, welcoming in No. 12 Iowa on Monday morning. Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. CT on Fox.
