Through the 2024-25 season, the Los Angeles Lakers have had a total of 506 players suit up for them, going back to their days in Minneapolis. Some were forgettable, some were serviceable, some were good and a select few were flat-out legendary.
During the Lakers' 80th season of existence (they were founded back in 1946 as the Detroit Gems in the National Basketball League), LeBron Wire is taking a look at each player who has worn their jersey, whether it has been a purple and gold one or the ones they donned back in the Midwest during their early years.
Lou Williams, who was a second-round draft pick in 2005, was one of the best bench scorers the NBA has seen in recent memory. He played 17 seasons in the NBA, won the Sixth Man of the Year award three times and averaged 13.9 points in 24.1 minutes per game for his career.
He came to the Lakers as a free agent in 2015. The 6-foot-2 guard spent one and a half seasons with them and put up 16.8 points and 2.8 assists in 26.5 minutes a game during that time. The Lakers traded him midway through the 2016-17 season to the Houston Rockets for Corey Brewer and a first-round draft pick in 2017.
