Team USA men's hockey enters the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics with a real chance to win the gold medal for the first time since 1980, and it started on Thursday with a Group C game against Latvia.
The second period in Milan has come to a close with the United States taking control. After a frustrating first period filled with overturned goals, the U.S. finally pulled away to a 4-1 lead.
Brock Nelson and Tage Thompson both found the back of the net, and Nelson added a second goal with just 11.1 seconds remaining in the frame to break the game open.
