Liverpool’s January loan stars are shining
James McConnell, Lewis Koumas and Owen Beck were among the group of players whose loan spells away from Anfield were cut short in the winter window.
Whilst McConnell and Beck are now expected to spend the rest of the season playing for Liverpool’s academy sides, Koumas has already been loaned out once again.
The Welsh international joined Hull City shortly after returning from Birmingham City, and the 20-year-old scored with only his second touch for the Tigers.
Koumas isn’t the only of Liverpool’s January loanees that is shining however, with Luke Chambers also impressing in the Championship with Charlton Athletic.
Chambers has started every game for the London club since his arrival, bagging hist first assist for the Addicks in his second appearance.
All those at Liverpool will surely be delighted to see their academy prospects thriving in the second division, especially after the disappointing results of some of the loan moves the club made in the summer.
Gary Probert was appointed as Head of Loan Management for the Reds in September, and he will be keeping a close eye on the performances of all Liverpool loanees to avoid more disappointing moves in the future.
Liverpool seem to have taken a step in the right direction with their most recent loans, something that will reassure those currently in the club’s academy and could further open the path to Slot’s first-team.
