Hermoso suffers new muscle issue, likely to forfeit Juve match

Mario Hermoso’s injury during the warm-up before Cremonese could prove costly.

A few minutes before kickoff, the Spaniard had stopped due to an initial discomfort. “We preferred not to risk it,” Gian Piero Gasperini said after the victory, hoping it was nothing serious.

The defender, however, is also at risk for the match against Juventus, scheduled for Sunday, March 1st at 8:45 PM, part of the 27th round of Serie A.

The tests he underwent, reports Il Messaggero, revealed a strained iliopsoas muscle.

The iliopsoas is the muscle that connects the lumbar spine and pelvis to the femur, essential for walking, running, and maintaining correct posture.

It’s the same muscle that Hermoso injured during the match against Torino and that kept him out of action against Milan.

The good news for the Spaniard and Gasperini is that tests have ruled out any injuries.

His participation in the big match against the Bianconeri, however, remains highly doubtful. He’ll likely have a great opportunity against a top-class Daniele Ghilardi, whose performances continue to improve.
