Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston named to Team USA World Cup Qualifying roster

Caitlin Clark will officially be making her Team USA senior national team competitive debut next month, joining Fever teammate Aliyah Boston at the World Cup Qualifiers in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

USA Basketball announced Clark and Boston as part of the 12-player roster that will compete in five games in San Juan from March 11-17. It comes after Boston and Clark, who is fully healed from her various injuries throughout the 2025 WNBA season, participated in a USA Basketball minicamp in North Carolina in December.

This will be Boston's second time on a senior national team; she competed in the 2024 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Antwerp, Belgium, but ultimately did not make the final Olympic roster.

The World Cup qualifying roster includes Boston, Clark, Paige Bueckers, Sonia Citron, Kahleah Copper, Chelsea Gray, Dearica Hamby, Rhyne Howard, Kiki Iriafen, Kelsey Plum, Angel Reese, and Jackie Young. Five players -- Clark, Bueckers, Citron, Iriafen, and Reese -- are making their competitive senior national team debuts.

Breanna Stewart, a three-time gold medalist, will join the team for training camp in Miami on March 7-8.

Fever coach Stephanie White will also make the journey to Puerto Rico as an assistant coach on Kara Lawson's staff. Phoenix coach Nate Tibbetts and Golden State coach Natalie Nakase join White as assistants.

USA Women's Basketball has already qualified for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, in September, but the team still competes in the qualifying tournament. The WNBA will take a league-wide break from Aug. 31-Sept. 17 to accomodate the players in the tournament.

The qualifying roster won't necessarily be the team that competes in Berlin in September, as well. Many veteran players, including Stewart, four-time MVP A'ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and Sabrina Ionescu, could take some spots in Berlin.
