The future of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is going to be a major storyline until we find out one way or the other what the future Hall of Famer's plans for 2026 are.
Will he return for a 14th season, or will he retire as one of the game's greats?
We don't have any idea at the time of writing, as Kelce is keeping things close to the vest, as he should.
But head coach Andy Reid might have just given Chiefs Kingdom hope that maybe, No. 87 is coming back.
“I’ve said this before, as long as there’s communication, I’m good,” Reid said. “That means people want to move forward, and that’s where I think Trav is. I’m not trying to put words in his mouth at all, and I try to give him some space. He’s been doing this a long time. He can sort all that out as he goes forward, but we’re proceeding with that, and there is communication.”

Will Kelce return in 2026?
Well, reading the tea leaves on Reid's comments, he did seem upbeat about the possibility as he spoke about Kelce.
If Travis didn't have any intention of returning, then Reid's tone might be a little different, plus he would likely know by now, we think.
There's still a lot to play out over the coming weeks as free agency comes into view, and we imagine that Kelce will tell the NFL world his plans as soon as possible so the Chiefs can move forward one way or the other.
But right now, there is a hint of confidence that we might not have seen the last of Kelce on a football field.
