Roma has a great opportunity after defeats to Napoli and Juventus.
The Giallorossi host Cremonese at the Olimpico for the postponed matchday 26 of Serie A. Claudio Ranieri made a surprise appearance before the match, speaking to DAZN.
The Giallorossi Senior Advisor spoke about the Champions League objective: “Last year, I earned 46 points in the second half of the season and came within one point of securing a Champions League spot. It seemed logical to me not to place too many expectations on the new coach who arrived. But it’s logical that we all want to reach the Champions League; the Friedkins want to win the league.”
“So we’ve found a coach who knows how to create the right mix of young players and experienced players to achieve great things and do well.”
Ranieri then praised Donyell Malen: “He’s arrived at the right time, in the right place, with the right coach. But it’s also true that there’s a big difference between the Premier League and our league. In the Premier League, he played and didn’t play, he was in and out, and he didn’t find the kind of talent he’s finding here in the Italian league. We’re holding on to Malen because he’s doing very well, and we truly hope he continues on this path.”
Finally, the former coach remembered Jamie Vardy, now at Cremonese, and the Premier League victory against Leicester: “We haven’t seen each other since, so it’s nice to say hello. They’re magnificent memories, especially because neither the team nor he were expected to score so many goals, and it’s been an overwhelming year.”
