Chelsea once again dropped points as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge by Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

The Blues took the lead early on through Joao Pedro, but once again failed to kill a game off, and Zian Flemming headed home an injury time equaliser.

The result meant Chelsea failed to gain ground on Aston Villa after they drew 1-1 with Leeds, whilst Manchester United play Everton on Monday night.

The race for Champions League football once again looks like it’s going to go down to the wire, and the Blues have some tough games to come.

Chelsea reportedly told Rosenior Champions League qualification was critical when he arrived, and Burt feels the 41-year-old should remain in the job even if he misses out.

“They [Chelsea] have had these draws, they’ve dropped these points, and ultimately, he’ll be judged on whether they qualify for Champions League,” he told Sky Sports News as quoted on X.com.

“It will be fascinating if they don’t qualify, where that leaves him? I think it’d be incredibly harsh not to carry on with him, but this is a very ruthless ownership.

“They can’t really afford not to be in the Champions League, so it puts him in quite a difficult situation.”

Chelsea face tough March schedule

Chelsea have come through their easier run of fixtures, and now have a tricky March ahead of them, which could define where they finish.
