After Alphonso Davies was injured earlier in the day, Canada Soccer got more bad news on Saturday.
Striker Promise David had to be stretchered off following a collision in the 76th minute of Union SG’s match against Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League.
David collided with defender Daam Foulon. The Canadian international and Foulon were leaping to try and deflect a ball in the box, when they butted heads. While it’s unclear what David’s injury was, he also appeared to twist his knee as he fell to the ground.
The 24-year-old Brampton, Ont., native has nine goals in his second season with Union SG.
If healthy, David figures to be a key piece of Canada’s roster for the upcoming World Cup.
Canada hosts the World Cup with the United States and Mexico from June 11 to July 19.
