GALENA, KS. — Columbus Boys Basketball picked up win number seven of the season on Friday, taking down Galena 48-36 and spoiling the Bulldogs’ senior night.
Following tip-off, the opening sequence might cause one to think this was a blowout. Columbus opened the game on a 14-0 scoring run and held Galena scoreless until the final 20 seconds of the first quarter.
While it was certainly far from an ideal start, the Bulldogs rallied together in the second quarter and put together a run of their own to bring the deficit within reach.
Columbus maintained a small advantage throughout the remainder of what ended up being an incredibly low-scoring contest. Both sides struggles to hit shots and both came away with several fast break opportunities off of turnovers.
The Titans’ lead got down to as low as three points in the fourth quarter but they held on thanks to some stout defense in crunch time.
The Titans move to 7-13 overall with one regular season game remaining against Frontenac while Galena ends the regular season at 6-14 overall.
