SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The Missouri State Bears hit the home hardwood Wednesday night.
And Cuonzo Martin’s troops were looking to snap a three game losing skid.
Back in early January, the Bears lost to Kennesaw State by ten points 90-to-80.
They were also looking to avenge that loss.
In our Bear Nation update, Missouri State was also looking for its 800th division one victory.
And Missouri State started hot from the perimeter, inside out to Keith Palek for the three, it’s 5-3 early.
Then Ppalek feeds Trey Williams who knocks down a three, but the Bears were down 22-18.
Kennesaw State’s Jaden Harris beats the buzzer with this three, it’s 29-22 Owls.
Palek playing tough inside as well, the senior scored 20 points in this game.
End of the first half, Kennesaw’s Perry Smith with the slam dunk, Owls by ten at the half.
But MoState made a charge out of the locke rroom, Malakih Cunningham with the slam dunk.
Then the freshman from Gary, Indiana knocks down this three and it’s a one point game.
With 2:15 left in the game, Trey Williams hits this three, and MoState had the lead 83-82.
Williams scored 19 points for the Bears.
But Missouri State could not contain, R.J. Johnson this three is three of his 29 points and Kennesaw survives the Bears comeback 91-87.
“They were really hot in the first half. And even for them, their big guys were making three point shots. We hadn’t seen a lot of that. 21 didn’t play against us the first time and he made shots and played well in the first half. We dug ourselves a hole, fought back. And gave ourselves a chance to win the game. But it comes down to getting key stops. And you have to be better at the free throw line as well.” said Martin.
