LeBron James‘ injury-riddled season has led to the end of an impressive streak.
The Los Angeles Lakers ruled out James for Tuesday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs with left foot arthritis. This means that James will miss his 18th game this season and won’t be eligible for any NBA end-of-season awards.
In order to qualify, a player has to play 65 games in a season. The maximum James can play now is 64.
This will be the first time since 2004 that he won’t be featured on the All-NBA teams, ending a 21-year run. James also has the record for the most first-team selections with 13, two ahead of Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone.
James did have one streak remain intact despite his injuries after earning a 22nd berth to the NBA All-Star Game. James was named as a reserve for the game after he was not voted in as a starter.
The 41-year-old is averaging 21.8 points, 6.9 assists, and 5.7 rebounds per game on 50.2 per cent shooting.
