Who stood out at the District 10 high school girls wrestling finals?

SHARON — Trinity Webster knew the stakes of her match.

A win in the 155-pound final at the 2026 District 10 high school girls wrestling championships could clinch the team title for Hickory. A loss, however, could allow Fort LeBoeuf to swipe it for the Hornets.

Webster left no doubt. A win by fall sealed her second career D-10 title and Hickory’s first as a team at the district’s third annual championship meet.

A wide-open field prompted questions about which of the district’s 22 teams would emerge as D-10 champion. Several contenders had identified themselves, but until pooling everyone into one tournament, uncertainty remained ahead of Feb. 14.

Hickory’s depth proved to be an asset all season. This time, it won the Hornets a D-10 crown.

“I know what I’m good at and what’s going to score me the most points,” said Webster, a senior. “I stuck to the plan — blast doubles strong and tight, and I got the win.”

Tight team race

Hickory’s 126 team points edged Fort LeBoeuf (123.5), Corry (96.5), Saegertown (90) and more. Four Hornets reached the finals, but Webster won their only individual title, making her pin at 3:10 crucial in holding off the Bison.

“All of our girls have strong skills,” said Webster, who also won D-10 in 2024 and fell one match short of a PIAA medal in 2025. “As a team together, we use those to our best ability, so I just want to push them and make sure they’re always doing their best.”

Fort LeBoeuf’s Gabby Malinowski won D-10 Coach of the Year. The Bison produced three finalists, including 235-pound champion Zahra Al-Zamly.

Erie County shines

Erie County grapplers won eight of 13 weight classes, including three repeat champs. Finley Fourspring (Corry; 106 pounds), Chloe Zacherl (McDowell, 124) and Cydney Rea (Northwestern; 155) each won their second title in as many tries.

Six first-time champs, meanwhile, reflected the growing depth in local girls’ wrestling.

The top four finishers at each weight class advanced to the PIAA West regional Feb. 28.

LeBoeuf’s eight qualifiers led all D-10 squads. Hickory advanced seven while Saegertown, Corry and Warren each advanced five.
