Skotheim on Track to Return After Foot Surgery

Sander Skotheim (23) is on track to return to competition by the end of May after a foot surgery in January, with the European Championships in Birmingham as his next goal.

The 23‑year‑old Norwegian javelin thrower suffered a ligament injury in his left foot during a training camp on 20 January. After surgery, he has completed his first throw and is optimistic about a May return.

Skotheim will miss the Paris 2024 Olympics and the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, but he is targeting his first senior medal at the European Championships in Birmingham in August.
