Woodland Opens Up About PTSD, Feels Weight Lifted

After revealing he has PTSD from brain surgery, Gary Woodland says speaking out has lifted a 1,000‑pound weight and helped him regain confidence on the PGA Tour.

Woodland told Golf Channel that he has been battling PTSD since brain surgery, and that opening up has felt like a 1,000‑pound weight being lifted. He praised the PGA Tour community for its support and said he no longer has to face the battle alone.

The former U.S. Open champion also noted that switching back to the iron shafts he used when he won has improved his swing speed and confidence, keeping him in contention at the Texas Children’s Houston Open.
