Red Sox Tolle Sent to Triple-A

Despite strong competition during spring training, Red Sox top prospect Payton Tolle will begin the season in Triple-A. The team's decision was influenced by Connelly Early's superior performance last season and the need for Ranger Suarez and Brayan Bello to build up in the bullpen.

'It does sting, because you want to play at the highest level all the time,' Tolle said. 'But at the same time, it's what's going to be beneficial for me.' The 22-year-old pitcher acknowledged areas for improvement with his off-speed pitches while praising the team's current rotation depth.
