Hoerner Agrees to 6-Year Deal with Cubs

Cubs second baseman Nico Hoerner has agreed to a six-year contract, continuing the team's recent streak of major player extensions.

Hoerner, 28, signed the deal in the final year of his current $35 million, three-year contract. The Stanford product was a key contributor in 2023 when Chicago won 92 games and reached the playoffs for the first time since 2020. He batted .297 with seven homers, 61 RBIs, and 29 steals while capturing his second Gold Glove award.

The agreement follows another major Cubs deal, as center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong recently signed a $115 million, six-year extension. Hoerner was selected by Chicago in the first round of the 2018 amateur draft and has become an integral part of the team's infield since making his debut.
