Rangers Manager Announces Baumler's MLB Spot on Mound

During a spring training game against the Kansas City Royals, 24‑year‑old right‑hander Carter Baumler was on the mound when Rangers manager Skip Schumaker stepped out to tell him he had made the major league roster. The surprise visit, which came after a strong outing, left Baumler thrilled and fired up for the season.

Baumler, a 2020 MLB draft pick who missed his first pro season due to COVID‑19 and later underwent Tommy John surgery, was acquired by the Rangers in the Rule 5 draft in December 2025. Schumaker said he wanted to make the announcement memorable, recalling his own first call‑up and choosing the mound for its significance.
