Tush Push Stays Legal as NFL Rule Proposals Skip It

The NFL released its 2026 rule‑change proposals, and none of them target the tush push. With the last year’s ban proposal falling two votes short of the required 24‑team approval, there is no current momentum to outlaw the play.

The push remains legal under existing rules that prohibit pulling a runner but allow pushing. The Eagles popularized the tactic and continue to use it, and other teams have adopted it, though defenses improved their stops in 2025.
