Hamilton: Wouldn't pit if knew second at risk

Seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton admits he wouldn't have pitted under the late safety car at the British Grand Prix had he known he would lose second place to George Russell.

Hamilton had been behind Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc when the race was neutralized following Max Verstappen's crash at Stowe in his Red Bull. The Mercedes driver made a second pit stop during the safety car period, which allowed Russell to gain the position.

'I wouldn't have pitted if I knew I would lose second,' Hamilton revealed, acknowledging the strategic decision that ultimately cost him a podium finish at his home race. cricket-ipl.co.za
