What draft experts said about new Jaguars WR Josh Cameron
In the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars selected WR Josh Cameron with the 191st pick. The Jaguars traded with the New England Patriots to move up from pick 196.
Although there are plenty of starting wide receivers already on the Jaguars' roster, there was a need for more depth and competition on the back end of this unit.
After five seasons at Baylor, Cameron carved out a major role on the offense, particularly in the last two seasons. In those last two years, he caught 131 of his 177 targets, for a catch rate of 68.5%, and an average of 13.5 yards per catch, with 19 combined touchdowns. librea.one
He also stood out on special teams, where as a punt returner, Cameron had 45 career attempts, averaging nearly 21 yards per return in 2024 and 15.3 yards per return in 2023, per PFF.
In his post-draft press conference, GM James Gladstone also noted Cameron's ability as a blocker -- an important element at the receiver position in Liam Coen's offense -- and how he attacks the football when it's in the air.
Here is what draft analysts had to say about Cameron in their pre-draft scouting reports.
NFL.com
"Cameron is built like a big running back and is not shy about using that size, strength and body control to rack up touchdowns in the red zone. He’s smooth in tracking and adjusting to throws. Drops are a rarity. However, he lacks suddenness to beat press and needs plenty of route work to avoid seeing a heavy percentage of contested targets. Proving he can move beyond the relatively simple asks of the Baylor offense will be critical if he is to become more than a backup. Cameron has traits but the development could take some time." - Lance Zierlein
Pro Football Network
"At 6'1", 218 pounds, he's a uniquely-built WR with high-level frame density, compact mass, proportional length, and long-strider burst, but he also has the ability to reduce and use stride variations to separate quickly. He has strong hands at the catch point, and he's built for RAC with his contact balance and burst. Cameron doesn't have field-stretching speed, and his athletic profile isn't elite, but there's a lot of utility in his short and intermediate route tree, chain-moving catch reliability, and active RAC element." - PFN
Pro Football Focus
"At 6-foot-1 and 225 pounds, he has a dense build that translates to good power and strength as both a blocker and a runner after the catch. He is an explosive linear athlete, but his high-cut frame limits his change of direction, which shows up in lower separation metrics and receiving grades against single coverage. He also needs to be more precise with his releases, reducing wasted movement against press coverage to get into his routes more efficiently. Cameron’s competitive toughness stands out on film, and his impactful special teams work as a punt returner will help his chances of making an NFL roster." - Trevor Sikkema

Man Utd star signs new long-term deal
Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new long-term deal with the club, extending his contract until 2031.
The youngster had reportedly been close to moving away from United during Ruben Amorim’s tenure. The Portuguese coach preferred other options to Mainoo, and only gave him limited opportunities.
However following Amorim’s dismissal, Mainoo has enjoyed a renaissance under Michael Carrick. The 21-year-old has been reinstated as a starter in United’s midfield and has thrived.
Speaking to the club after signing his deal, Mainoo said: “Manchester United has always been my home. This special club means everything to my family.
“I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt.
“From The Cliff, to Littleton Road, to Carrington and ultimately Old Trafford, the journey so far has been incredible. I have the privilege of living my dream every single day, with the same relentless desire to succeed here as when I joined my first training session at the age of six.
“We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead.”
The 21-year-old has long established himself in the first-team, and has tallied 98 appearances across all competitions. This includes the 2024 FA Cup final, in which he scored the winning goal.
Jason Wilcox, United’s Director of Football, added: “Kobbie is one of the most naturally gifted young footballers in the world.
“His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding academy system.
“We are delighted that Kobbie has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world, ready to play a pivotal role in a Manchester United team challenging for the biggest honours.”
Apology after 'rape joke' made at rugby club dinner
A rugby club has apologised over claims a speaker at a dinner event made a joke about rape.
The remarks, allegedly made by Alloa Rugby Club president Alan Stewart during a speech at Musselburgh RFC, reportedly contained "racist, homophobic and sexist" material.
The Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) said it was looking into the "wholly unacceptable" comments, while Musselburgh RFC said the incident had "dented the progress" made in developing women's rugby at the club.
A spokesperson for Alloa Rugby Club said "the individual referenced attended the event in a personal capacity" but they took any "distress or offence caused by the actions or words of a club member very seriously".
The Alloa statement that it "would not be appropriate to comment in detail" while both "the club and the Scottish Rugby Union are reviewing the matter".
"However, we recognise that there are differing accounts of what was said and the context in which it was said, and both reviews will seek to establish the facts carefully and fairly," it said.
BBC Scotland has approached Alan Stewart for comment.
'Poor judgement'
The East Lothian Courier reported that several women were in tears over the alleged comments and the captain of the women's rugby team walked out of the room.
Following the event, the head coach of Musselburgh's women's team, James Ferguson, resigned over the "atrocious" remarks, despite not being present at the dinner himself.
The board of Musselburgh RFC issued an apology to those who attended and were "impacted by events at our recent club dinner".
The statement said: "We particularly wish to recognise and acknowledge the hurt caused to our women's team, who we are extremely proud of and to whom we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment."
The club apologised for the "very poor judgement of the speaker" and said he had sent a written apology.
"We recognise the importance of calling out poor behaviours and in no way condone or approve of the subject matters that caused offence," the statement said.
The club said it had been in "extensive dialogue with our women's team since Saturday and are working closely with them to agree a positive way forward for the team and for the club".
Musselburgh RFC has agreed to make a donation to a charity as a "gesture of support".
The club added: "We are extremely disappointed and sorry that this incident has dented the progress that we have made in developing women's rugby at the club.
"It is an initiative we have strongly supported over the last few years and remain wholeheartedly committed to for the future.
"We sincerely hope and expect that we can move forward from this stronger."
The SRU condemned the comments alleged to have been made in the speech, which it said did not reflect "the values of our game".
A statement said: "We are grateful to those who brought this matter to our attention.
"Scottish Rugby is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion at every level of the game. There is no place for discriminatory behaviour in our sport, or in wider society.
"We are currently progressing the matter through our regulatory department."

Mainoo signs new five-year Man Utd contract
Kobbie Mainoo has signed a new contract at Manchester United that will keep him at Old Trafford until 2031, bringing an end to months of uncertainty over his future.
The 21-year-old, who joined United's academy in 2014, has already made 98 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals, including in the FA Cup final win against Manchester City in 2024.
Mainoo fell out of favour under former boss Ruben Amorim and had a request to leave on loan in August rejected.
He started just one game all season -- the League Cup loss to Grimsby on penalties -- under the Portuguese, who was sacked in January.
That led to growing speculation that the future of the boyhood United fan could lie away from Old Trafford.
But Mainoo has been rejuvenated under Michael Carrick, who was appointed as head coach until the end of the season after Amorim was fired.
The midfielder has started all but one game since then, playing a key role as United have climbed to third in the Premier League, all but securing a return to the Champions League.
"Manchester United has always been my home -- this special club means everything to my family," said Mainoo.
"I have grown up seeing the impact that our club has on our city, and I relish the responsibility that comes with wearing this shirt."
He added: "We can all feel the momentum building inside the club. I am determined to step up and play my role in helping Manchester United to regularly fight for major trophies in the years ahead."
Jason Wilcox, United's director of football, hailed Mainoo as one of the most "naturally gifted young footballers in the world".
"His technical ability, dedicated professionalism and humble personality make him the perfect role model for our young players and a true credit to our outstanding academy system," he said.
"We are delighted that Kobbie has extended his stay here and have full confidence that he will develop into one of the best players in the world, ready to play a pivotal role in a Manchester United team challenging for the biggest honours."
Mainoo has also regained his place in the England set-up under Thomas Tuchel, featuring in friendlies in March against Uruguay and Japan.
