Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Al Sadd head coach Roberto Mancini said his side had once held a five-point lead over Al Shamal before it was reduced to two, stressing that full focus is now on securing victory despite the challenge posed by an in-form opponent.
Mancini noted that when he took charge, Al Sadd trailed league leaders Al Gharafa by eight points, but managed to climb to the top of the standings.
He described the turnaround as a reflection of the players' quality, professionalism, and hard work, expressing hope for a strong turnout of supporters in what he called a crucial match, one that would secure the title with a win.
For his part, Al Shamal head coach David Prats underlined both the importance and difficulty of the encounter, describing it as his team's most significant match of the season.
He said the club is aiming to achieve a historic milestone by winning its first-ever league title.
The Spanish coach added that the team is facing a defining moment that requires thorough preparation without placing excessive pressure on the players, while acknowledging the scale of the challenge against a club of Al Sadd's stature.
Al Sadd enter the match at the top of the table with 42 points, while Al Shamal sit second with 40 points, heightening the stakes in what will decide the league title.
Salah will get fitting Liverpool farewell despite injury, says Van Dijk
Liverpool: Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk is certain Mohamed Salah will get the send-off his glittering career deserves, even if injury prevents the Egyptian from playing again for the Reds.
Salah, who will leave Anfield after nine years at the end of the season, was forced off with a suspected hamstring injury in Saturday's 3-1 win over Crystal Palace.
Liverpool are awaiting the results of a scan to determine the extent of the problem, but with just four games of the campaign remaining, the 33-year-old may not feature again this season.
"If you get injured at this stage of the season, especially in the situation he is in, there is only two more home games left for him, it's a combination of feelings that go through your mind," said Van Dijk.
"He will get the send-off regardless. I don't think that is the thing at this point, we shouldn't think too far ahead.
"Knowing Mo, he is a quick healer and with the right people around him let's see."
Salah has scored 257 goals in 440 appearances since his arrival in 2017, behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt in Liverpool's list of leading goalscorers.
Inter Milan a win away from Serie A title despite blowing two-goal lead at Torino
MILAN: Inter Milan moved a step closer to the Serie A title but the Nerazzurri made it more difficult for themselves by letting slip a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 at Torino on Sunday.
That left Inter 10 points ahead of second-placed Napoli, with four rounds remaining.
A win would have left Inter simply needing to avoid defeat against Parma next weekend to mathematically clinch the Serie A title irrespective of how Napoli and AC Milan fared.
