Can Yorke and those he holds dearest survive the Reaper? Or will this be one dance too many?

MY REVIEW

Dance With The Reaper is #5 in the series featuring DCI Yorke series, it can be read as a stand-alone but it has a few references to previous novels in the series so you may miss a little continuity.

Here, DCI Michael Yorke is back in the thick of a new case….a sadistic hired killer is torturing his victims before he kills them…..can Yorke catch The Reaper before anyone else dies?

If you like a thriller on the dark side, you’ll love this. It’s dark, disturbing and macabre and as Yorke races against time to catch a killer, your heart races along with him. Fast paced and utterly unputdownable.

Thank you to Caroline at CazVin Books for the opportunity to take part in this blog tour, for the promotional material and an eCopy of the book. This is my honest and unbiased review.

A hint of gold glistened in the sand. It was a watch, no doubt about it. A watch… attached to a body.
Criminal psychologist Robyn Adams is at breaking point after her last case resulted in an attempt on her own life. But as she sits in the car about to head home, her phone rings. It’s Robyn’s cousin, Vicky Carter, who she hasn’t seen or heard from in years.
Vicky’s voice cracks down the phone. Her husband, Simon, has been found buried on Golden Sands beach. Desperate to help and determined not to let her last case get the better of her, Robyn returns to the coastal village where she spent summers with Vicky as a child.
Robyn knows that she has let Vicky down in the past and is set on making up for lost time. Throwing herself into the case, she combs through evidence, intent on discovering a lead that will help the local police.
But there is clearly someone who wants Robyn gone. She is convinced someone is watching her and when she begins to receive threatening notes, Robyn knows that she could be risking her life…
But Robyn won’t leave again – she owes it to Vicky to stay.
In this brilliant thriller, Paul’s ability to bring together a captivating plot and compelling characters shines through, pulling you in so deep, you won’t want to come up for air.

Middle-class parents Victoria and Nicholas Foulkes are distraught when their children are kidnapped against Nicholas’ gambling debts. Penniless and desperate the couple turn to crime as a way to raise the ransom.

Hot on their heels is recently bereaved DI Harry Evans and his Major Crimes team. Evans is fighting against enforced retirement and his replacement – DI John Campbell – is foisted upon him along with other cases. If he must leave the police then he wants one last big case before he goes.

In a race against time Victoria and Nicholas must evade the police while continuing to add to the ransom fund. If they don’t pay up on time the kidnappers have threatened to amputate their children’s limbs with an oxy-acetylene torch.

MY REVIEW

Victoria and Nicholas’ two children have been abducted by a ruthless gang, they are demanding the repayment of Nicholas’ gambling debts within a week……or the children will suffer.

But even after selling their possessions they do not have enough….so with no other option they turn to crime…..they need money fast.

Meantime, DI Harry Evans is due to retire, much to the relief of the senior officers in charge….he’s as un-pc as they come and doesn’t always stick to the rules or the law for that matter to catch the criminals. His humour brings a lighter note to this tense tale though.

Harry is working on his last case, a spate of robberies and thefts…..this eventually leads him to Victoria and Nicholas and he learns of their kidnapped children, but he has a plan to rescue them…..will he manage in time?

This is a fast paced, heart pounding thriller that keeps you on your toes. With great characters and a twisty, nerve wracking plot to keep you hooked from the very start. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
