PUBLISHERS BLURB

Being one of the most formidable archangels with the power to end the world doesn’t serve you well if you don’t know how to use it.

Thrown into a battle of courts and factions, tangled in a web of intrigues and palatial games, naïve Ariel is surrounded by powerful angels, chasing their own agendas.

There’s no one she can trust. Everyone stands to gain something from her death.

To avoid the bloody battle that Baza brought to her door at Uras, Ariel retreats back to Apkallu (Earth) to find her sister, but the Heavenly battles and intrigues she flees follow her, as Baza’s immense hold on Apkallu forces Ariel and Rafe to make uncomfortable choices.

Ariel’s fight for survival is far from over and it looks like it’s going to be a deadly one.

MY REVIEW

This is a YA fantasy tale, about young Ariel….learning how to be an angel and all that entails. She’s getting used to her beautiful purple wings…..but still has to ask Rafe(Raphael) how she can get undressed for a shower……(clothes just pass through them luckily)…..

She also finds out she no longer needs to eat but that doesn’t stop her eating the odd sweet now and then…..strawberry laces or refreshers!

She’s gone home to find her sister, but the family have moved away…..Rafe had promised Jess would be looked after and she is so mad at him…she flies off and intends hurting herself but Rafe stops her but he’s injured again.

At a B&B they are contacted by Baza, he shows her where Jess is and while she trusts nothing he says, she has to get Jess…Is this a trap?

This is a quite remarkable piece of fantasy writing by Olga Gibbs, the battles, the scouser and lizards are so well described you can almost smell the scouser’s fetid breath….great world building and likeable and distinctly unlikeable characters make this a thoroughly gripping, enthralling read….I love it…(and it’s been many years since I was YA)…

Death At The Dakota by M.K.Graff – Book Review

DABE7E8D-722B-4F8C-B0AF-D3EF39184160

PUBLISHERS BLURB

Nurse Trudy Genova is making plans to take her relationship to NYPD detective Ned O’Malley to the next level, when she lands a gig as medical consultant on a film shoot at the famed Dakota apartment building in Manhattan, which John Lennon once called home. Then star Monica Kiley goes missing, a cast member turns up dead, and it appears Trudy might be next.

Meanwhile Ned tackles a mysterious murder case in which the victim is burned beyond recognition. When his investigations lead him back to the Dakota, Trudy finds herself wondering: how can she fall in love if she can’t even survive?

Readers of Death Unscripted, the first book in the Trudy Genova Manhattan Mystery series, will find the same pleasures in this sequel: fast pacing, engaging characters, twists and turns on the way to a satisfying close.

From the award-winning author of The Nora Tierney English Mysteries, this second series is a winner. Once again M.K. Graff reveals her talents in crafting this delightful mix of amateur sleuth and police procedural.

Trudy is a nurse working with a TV company in New York, amongst the glamour of the film industry and of course the Dakota…

She finds herself involved in a murder case, due to her nosy, but endearing nature and her medical background. Trudy is such a likeable character, a strong, astute woman with an absolutely charming wit that will make you laugh out loud at times. There is also a little romance with a detective too…

A clever, well written and nicely paced murder mystery with a classic cosy feel to it….a young Miss Marple?…..some nice twists too that will keep you guessing…
